Ralph Thomas Preslar

Ralph Thomas Preslar, 78, of Enola Road, Morganton, North Carolina died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Grace Hospital. Born June 30, 1930 in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Preslar and Arista Melton Preslar. Ralph was born both mentally and physically challenged and spent most of his life at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Marvin, and Leighton Preslar, and by sisters, Alma Purser, Mildred Thomas, and Margaret Bledsoe all of Charlotte.Ralph is survived by a brother, Worth Preslar and his wife, Lib, of Charlotte, and by many nieces and nephews.The family appreciates the sincere and loving care that Ralph received from the staff at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center.The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2009 at the J. Iverson Riddle Covenant Center, 300 Enola Road, Morganton, NC with Chaplain John Phillips officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park, 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC with Rev. Gail Werstlein officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center, 300 Enola Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
