Ralph "Toby" Poarch

Ralph "Toby" Poarch, 75, of Valdese, NC went to reside with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. For the past month his home was Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Caldwell County, NC on May 18, 1937, he was the son of Hazel Cannon Poarch of Valdese and the late Ralph Ozro Poarch. Toby was a member of Enon Baptist Church and retired from Parker Plumbing. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Gardening was also a passion of his. He loved sharing the bounty with family, neighbors, and friends.Toby is survived by his daughters, Sherry Gilley and Angela Poarch, both of Valdese; grandchildren, Joshua Turpin, Jeremiah Turpin, Heather Turpin, and Matthew Poarch; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brothers, James Poarch of Valdese and Jerry Poarch of Hendersonville, NC.In addition to his father, Toby was preceded in death by his first wife, Pansy Poarch, his second wife, Carolyn Mae Whisnant Poarch; sons, Phillip Jeffrey Poarch and Kevin Poarch; a grandson, Adam Poarch; and a brother, Bobby Poarch.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev.
