Ray Nelson Anderson

Ray Nelson Anderson of Oak Ridge Dr. in Morganton died Monday, April 16, 2007 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. He was born in Burke County, NC, and was a son of the late Charlie Anderson and Mary Queen Anderson. Ray was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired US Navy veteran. He worked for the VA in Winston-Salem as a real estate broker, and also in the Burke County Tax office. He was currently working for the State of North Carolina as a bedding inspector. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Catawba Valley Lodge #217 where he had been a past Master and was the current Senior Warden. He was a member of the Burke County Shrine Club, the D.A.V., the VFW, and the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothea Chapman Anderson of the home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, April 19, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Larry Thompson and Ed Lawing officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
