Raymond "Ray" L. Johnson

Raymond “Ray” L. Johnson, 87, of Morganton passed away Friday, December 21, 2018. Born on March 5, 1931 he was the son of the late George and Ester Johnson.

Ray attended Cortland UMC in Cortland, KS. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United Stated Navy with 32 years of service. Ray was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion and the Fleet Reserve.

Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Allie Johnson; daughters, Adele Johnson and friend, Darrell, Tina Benson and husband, Steve; stepchildren, Roxanne Epley and husband Dennis, Paula Epley and husband, Roy, Billy Hice Jr. and wife, Greta, Steve Hice and wife, Mandy; step grandchildren, Zach, Samantha, Richard, Alexis, and Zabriana, and several step great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by is late wife, Thelma Sue Johnson; brother, Harlon Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday December 28, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Uren officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the US Navy.
