Reuben Douglas Beverly, Sr,

Reuben Douglas Beverly, Sr, 69, of Morganton gained peace after a long illness on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.  Born in Mobile, AL on August 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Fred Douglas Beverly, Sr. and Susie Perry Beverly.  Reuben was a proud, Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of Church of the Living God in Pensacola, FL and enjoyed reading the Bible.  Reuben was a loving family man who was especially proud of his children.

Mr. Beverly is survived by wife, Michele Gucciardi Beverly of the home; children, Arcola Beverly of Texas, Candice Beverly of Mobile, AL, Reuben Douglas Beverly, Jr. of Mobile, Eric Douglas Reuben of Mobile, Joy Beverly of Mobile, Joshua C. Beverly of Statesville, NC, and Zoe Beverly of Statesville; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Lou Beverly and Julia Beverly Hayes; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; first wife, Landis Witherspoon Beverly; and second wife, Joann Wells Beverly.

In addition to his parents, Reuben was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Nell Beverly Hemphill and Dorothy L. Beverly Holt, Freddie Mae Beverly; and brother, Fred D. Beverly, Jr..

Services for Reuben will be held at a later date in Pensacola, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer AME Zion Church, St. Charles Street, Mobile, AL.
