Rev. Donald Ray Freshour

Rev. Donald Ray Freshour, 71, of Marion, NC went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Born in McDowell County, NC on October 14, 1944, he was the son of Hazel Plemmons Freshour of Marion and the late Arelin Ray Freshour. Don was a member of the United Methodist Church Western North Carolina Conference. He was a full-time minister with United Methodist Church for 40 years and was a part-time minister for five years after his retirement.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynda Barton Freshour of the home; sons, Sam Freshour and wife, Sherry, of Rutherford County, NC and Tim Freshour of Lincolnton, NC; a grandson, Dustin Freshour and wife, Casee; great-grandsons, Corbin and Turner Freshour of Bostic, NC; sisters, Nancy Freshour Elliott and husband, Charles, of Marion, NC and Linda Freshour Bonorden and husband, Brian, of Valdese, NC; two nieces; and four nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12- 2 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Marion. The funeral will be held at the church at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends Warren Owens, Joseph Fulk, and John Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bostic, NC.
