Rev. J. C. Shoaf

Rev. J. C. Shoaf, 77, of Valdese went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.  Born in Rowan County, NC on November 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Samuel Shoaf and Francis Newton Shoaf.  J. C. was a member of Wyatt’s Grove Baptist Church.  He was a pastor at several Baptist churches in North Carolina and South Carolina for 52 years.  He also served as an evangelist conducting revival meeting and crusading all over the eastern United States.  Rev. Shoaf also owned and operated a monument company and passed the experience of stone cutting on to his family.

J. C. is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean File Shoaf; sons, Mathew Shoaf (Josephine) and Nathan Shoaf (Bridget); daughters, Cynthis Heatherly (Dwight) and Angela Bumgarner (Kevin); nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary Shoaf.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Shoaf was preceded in death by a son, Jerry W. Shoaf; and brother, Buddy Shoaf.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Wyatt’s Grove Baptist Church on Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC.
