Richard Bruce Marzen, Sr., 70, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 while surrounded by his family.

Born on Long Island, NY on November 21, 1953, he was the son of the late George Marzen and Blanche Haveron Marzen. Richard was a member of Crosslink Church. He was a hard worker, a jack-of-all-trades, could fix anything, and made certain that things were done correctly. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family. Mr. Marzen was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Hopper Marzen; children, Rebecca Anne Toscano (Michael), Richard Bruce Marzen, Jr. (Laura), and Tracy Marie LeMaster (Jeremy); grandchildren, Mickaela, Anthony, Grace, Braden, Luke, Madelyn, and Benjamin; sisters, Linda Briecke, Deborah Marzen, and Mary Jane Kors; a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his canine companion, Buddy.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, George Marzen, Jr.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Crosslink Church in Rutherford College with Rev. Mark Smith officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice (https://www.amoremsupport.org/donate).

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
