Rita Carol McCoy, 65, of Morganton, NC, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Born in Burke County, NC on February 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William Riley McCoy and Ellie Faye Whisnant McCoy.

Rita loved the Lord and was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She retired after 38 years as a manager with the State Employees Credit Union. Rita enjoyed going to the beach and fishing, but she especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her sons, Kyle Berryhill (Autumn) and Kaleb Berryhill (Callie); grandchildren, Kayden, Jack, Mollie, Finn, and Liam Berryhill; brother, Randy McCoy (Dena); nephews, Jason and Jamie McCoy; and a number of extended family.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2024 at El Bethel Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. in the church with Revs. Tim Hodge and John Powell officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
