Robert "Bob" Benfield

Robert “Bob” Benfield, 64, of Morganton died Wednesday, June 26, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 14, 1955, he was the son of the late Walter Jones Benfield and Mary Louise Mayfield Benfield.  Bob enjoyed old, classic model cars.  His pride and joy was his granddaughter, Bella.

A loving husband and brother, Bob is survived his wife, Wendy Lynn Walker Benfield of the home; step-children, Macayla, Dakota, and Kaitlyn Brady; step-granddaughter, Isabella “Bella” Peeler; brothers, Lenoir Edward “Babe” Benfield, Sr. (Mary Sue) and James “Lard” Benfield (Kerri); half-brothers, Tracy and Justin Benfield; step-brother, Rick Moffitt; step-sister, Mitzi Moffit; and step-mother, Nora Benfield.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by brothers, Richard “Buddy” Benfield and Larry Benfield.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 28, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at Bethel United Methodist Church on Dysartsville Road with Dr. Pat Looper and Pastor Dennis Carswell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
