Robert "Bob" Curry, 51, of Stephens Road, Morganton, NC died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Forsyth County, NC on June 2, 1958, he was the son of Bruce Welever Curry of Lumberton, NC and the late Mildred Bray Curry. Bob attended Mull’s Grove Baptist Church. He loved to cook and entertain people and also enjoyed woodworking. A very giving person, Bob loved all his nieces and nephews, and extended Burke County families, beyond measure.In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Frances Willoughby Curry of the home; brothers, Bruce Wayne Curry of Walkertown, NC and Edwin Eugene Curry of Lumberton; a mother-in-law, Mildred Johns Willoughby of Lumberton, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and eight brothers and sisters-in-law.In addition to his mother, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Lewis; a niece, Maria Lewis; and a nephew, Jeff Rabey.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery with graveside honors provided by the Morganton Public Safety and the Burke County Sheriff’s Honor Guards. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
