Robert "Bob" Hunter

Robert "Bob" Hunter, 63, of Morganton passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 following an extended battle with cancer. He was born on August 2, 1950 in Burke County and was a son of Flossie McDowell Hunter of and the late Samuel Edward Hunter. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carson Hunter. Bob worked at Marion Mfg. and Cross Cotton Mills and attended Shiloh A.M.E. Church. He was a very hard worker who was greatly loved and will be missed by his sons.In addition to his mother Bob is survived by sons, Alvin Hunter and wife, Joy, of Morganton, Christopher Hunter, Tyron Hunter, and Robert Hunter, Jr. all of Marion; a brother, Eddie Hunter and wife, Cheryl, of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Vernadean Hunter-Starks and husband, Howard, of Morganton; ten grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles; and many friends.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013 at Shiloh A.M.E. Church with Rev. Vernadean Hunter-Starks officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
