Robert "Bobby" Piercy

Robert "Bobby" Piercy 53, died Monday, April 30, 2012. He was born in Burke County on March 17, 1959 and was a son of Rama Grace Willis Piercy of Glen Alpine and the late Howard William Piercy. Bobby was employed at Leviton Southern Devices and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Terri McGalliard Piercy; son, Bryon Robert Piercy of Spruce Pine; brother, William "Bill" Piercy and wife, Debbie, of Morganton; sister, Susan Abernathy and fiancée, Tim Clontz, of Glen Alpine; grandchildren, Robert Cole Thomas and Colton Piercy both of Morganton, and Alexis and Katelyn Thomas of Icard; daughter-in-law, Amy Thomas; mother-in-law, Mary Franklin and her husband, Ben; brothers-in-law, Chris "Moe" and Eddie McGalliard; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his father, Bobby was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Vollie and Ruby Piercy; maternal grandparents, John and Pauline Willis; and father-in-law, James Edward "Bud" McGalliard.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Jim Rains officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Alpine Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home on Gold Mine Road. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1865 N. Powerhouse Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center is assisting the family.
