Robert Bruce “Bob” Sisk

Robert Bruce “Bob” Sisk, 93, of Morganton passed away at home on the Sisk Farm at the foot of his beloved Table Rock Mountain on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on September 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Rev. Beattie Avery Sisk and Lillie Belle McGimsey Sisk.  He was a member of Mountain Grove United Methodist Church for over 70 years.

The son of a Methodist minister, he lived in various areas across the state.  While in Greensboro he met the love of his life, Martha Elizabeth Martin Sisk, to whom he was married for 73 years.  He worked as a farmer all his life, first as a dairy farmer and later as a beef cattle farmer.  He was also a US Army veteran of WWII and a Purple Heart recipient.  Bob served on the board of directors for Rutherford Electric Membership Corporation for over 50 years and was a Director Emeritus.

Bob is survived by his children, Bruce Sisk (Rita) of Morganton, Robert Anthony “Tony” Sisk of Florida, Jill Sisk Moore of Morganton, and Annette Smith (Sam) of Morganton; grandchildren, David A. Sisk, Dinah Lee Sisk, Dawn S. Pearson, Ramona L. Moore, Robert M. Smith, and Kirk T. Smith; great-grandchildren, Lauren Sisk, Alex Sisk, Dalton Pearson, Jalen Moore, SophiAnn Smith, and HannaLyn Smith; great-great-grandchildren, Arthur and Maylee Moore; brother, Charles W. Sisk (Peggy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by sisters, Elsie S. Harris and Sybil S. MacDow.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Mtn. Grove United Methodist Church.  A celebration of Bob’s life will follow in the church with Rev. Kathy McAbee officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
