Robert “Cotton” Patton, 72, of Morganton, NC passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his residence. He was born on June 11, 1951 in Burke County to the late Horace Graham Patton and Florence Reed Patton. He was a faithful member of Marion Church of Christ. Robert worked at Henredon Furniture and Baker Furniture. He loved farming and tending to his cattle and also loved his dog, Scrappy Doo. His greatest delight was his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Patton; sister, Helen Edgins.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Betty Anthony (Ernest) and Mary Loudermilk; step-daughter, Kay Barker; grandchildren, Joshua Anthony, Chris Anthony, Taylor Patton, and Mike Longo; four step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Emma Anthony and Alan R. Smith; three step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Horace Patton (Delores), John Patton (Debbie), James Patton (Mary Jane), Paul Patton (Donna), Kenneth (Jean), Ernest Patton (Carolyn); sisters, Leatha Tripp and Dorothy Grigg (Carmie).; and many nieces and nephews.
There are no services planned at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
