Robert H. "Buddy" Brown

Robert H. "Buddy" Brown, 80, of Edgewood Circle, Morganton, NC, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on September 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Horace Brown and Estelle Epley Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Ritchie Brown, and a brother, Jim Wacaster. Buddy was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and attended UNC Chapel Hill. He was a former employee of Wamsutta Mills, Highlander, LTD, and the Burke County Clerk of Superior Court. Buddy was also a former deputy with the Burke Co. Sheriff Department.Buddy is survived by his daughter, Toni B. Dills and husband, Herb, of Morganton; granddaughters, JoAnna Johnson and Jill Johnson Gwyn and husband, Carroll; great-grandsons, Gavin and Gage Gwyn; a sister, Patty Wacaster of Morganton; and a "special" daughter, Barbara Lingerfelt of Morganton.The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Donald Smith officiating. Military graveside rites will be performed by Valdese American Legion Post #234. At other times the family will be at Toni’s residence, 111 Newland Street, Morganton.
