Robert Olen Frye

Robert Olen Frye, 64, of Morganton died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on January 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Oren Moore Frye, Sr. and Dorothy Elbridge Watts Frye. Robert was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Vietnam in 1968, and was a member of the National 4th Infantry Division Association. Robert was former employee of the City of Morganton and retired from Broughton Hospital.Mr. Frye is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christine Garrison Frye of the home; a son, Jason A. Frye and his wife, Andrea, of Morganton; a daughter, Tashia F. Little and her husband, Jason, of Taylorsville, NC; grandchildren, Emma Robinson, Zain Frye, Jack Little, and Ross Little; brothers, Oren Frye, Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Drexel, NC and David Frye and his wife, Patty, of Valdese, NC; a number of nephews and nieces; and an uncle, Donald Watts of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Burkemont Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. David Mills and Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.At other times the family will be at the residence.Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
