Robert “Rob” Clontz

Robert “Rob” Clontz, 91, of Morganton died peacefully at his on home on Sunday, November 3, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Glenn Clontz and Eva Duckworth Clontz.  Rob was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Great Lakes Carbon after 42 years of service.

Rob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Pittman Clontz; children, Donna Clontz, Joy Berry (Teddy), Mark Turpin (Tracy), and Robin Higdon (Shannon), all of Morganton; grandchildren, Brandi Wilson, Jessica Turpin, Matthew Turpin, Dylan Higdon, and Angel Higdon; great-grandchildren, Paeton Carter Hidgon; brothers, Harold Clontz (Gertrude), Billy V. Clontz, and R. G. Clontz (Sue); and sister, Durlene Shuffler.

In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by a brother, Bennett Clontz; and sisters, Olivia Lackey and Francis Shirley.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at noon in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rocky Reese officiating.  Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors provided by the US Air Force.
