Robert Russell “Bob” Martin

Robert Russell “Bob” Martin, 80, of Morganton died Saturday, November 11, 2017.  Born in Alamance County, NC on May 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Fred Russell Martin and Geneva Ann Harrill Martin.  A good Christian man, Bob was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church.  He had a passion for automobiles and travel, and he was the owner of Bob’s Body Shop for over 50 years.  Bob was a wonderful husband and father.  He was a generous person who was a friend to many, and he had a great sense of humor.

Bob is survived by his wife, Linda Ruth Martin of the home; children, Linda Gail Morton and husband, Bob, of Morganton, Susan Patton and husband, Keith, of Morganton, Robert Martin, Jr. and wife, Debra, of Morganton, Karen Revis and husband, Marty, of Nebo, NC, and Billy Martin and wife, Sherrard, of Morganton; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bill Martin and wife, Ruby, of Marion, NC and Shirley Kimrey of Darlington, SC.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two siblings, Harold Martin and Ramona Glenn.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Dean Hart and the Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
