Robert W. "Bob" Morrison

Robert W. “Bob” Morrison, 84, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, September 22, 2015.  Born in Burke County, NC on May 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Willie Webb Morrison and Annie Mae Clontz Morrison.  Bob was a graduate of Glen Alpine High School.  He worked for many years at Drexel Furniture Company and Dana Corporation.  For many years he was an active fireman with West End Fire Department and Brendletown Fire Department.  He was an avid fisherman.

A loving father and grandfather, Bob is survived by his son, Sam Morrison and his wife, Sharon, of Morganton; grandchildren, Samantha Poteet and her husband, Todd, Wesley Morrison and his wife, Mandy, and Brandon Mason and his wife, Amber, all of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Tanner Poteet, Lainey Poteet, Joey Morrison, Brinley Mason, and Jordan Pierce; siblings, Ralph Morrison and his wife, Emma, Carl Morrison and his wife, Doris, and Eloise McLean, all of Morganton and Dorothy Brittain and her husband, Verlie, of Valdese, NC.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son Robert “Bobby” William Morrison, Jr.; the mother of his sons, Margaret Brittain; and brothers, Glenn and Kenny Morrison.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Magnuson officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
