Robert Wayne Stewart

Robert Wayne Stewart, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. Born in Gaston County, NC on June 30, 1930, he was a son of the late James S. Stewart and Lilly Barker Stewart. Wayne was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.
Wayne is survived by his children Trilby S. Pendergrass and husband, Bill, and Timothy M. Stewart and wife, Flor, all of Boynton Beach, Florida; adopted daughter, Phyllis Bradshaw of Morganton; three grandchildren; and brothers, Bill and Henry Stewart both of Morganton.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Wells Stewart; brothers, Nallie, Raleigh, and Arthur Stewart.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Diviney officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with masonic rites by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217.
