Roena Daves Haigler

Roena Daves Haigler, 94, of Grace Ridge died Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born in McDowell County on March 8, 1913 and was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Daves and Lucy Roena Landis Daves. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Carl Haigler; a sister, Addie Benfield; and by brothers, Guy, Paul, and Robert Daves. Mrs. Haigler was a retired employee of Drexel Furniture Co.Surviving are a son and his wife, Jim and Loetta Haigler, of Newland; daughters and their husbands, Wanda and Bob Littlejohn of Lenoir and Virginia "Ginger" and John Chapman of W. Jefferson; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choice.
