Roger C. Warlick

Roger C. Warlick, 72, of Morganton, NC was called home on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 after a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on December 21, 1939, he was the son of the late Archie Jones Warlick and Vergie Jane Clark Warlick. Roger was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He retired from Broughton Hospital and had also worked at Wamsutta Mills, Bentley Machinery, and Giles Motor Company. Roger loved to play bluegrass music and was a mechanic at heart.A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Blalock Warlick of the home; daughters, Lisa Warlick of Morganton, Amy Cable and husband, Gene, of Morganton, and Jennifer Chrisco and husband, Shane, of Valdese, NC; grandchildren, Shannon Warlick, Kara Warlick, Eric Hutchins, and Emily Chrisco; a great-grandson, Jacob Baker; a brother, Jerry Warlick and wife, Pat; sisters, Judith Cook and Betty Lane; and a number of nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Linda W. Scott; a brother, Terry Warlick; and a nephew, Jeffrey Cook.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. David Mills officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Burkemont Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard. At other times the family will be at the home of his daughter, Amy Cable.
