Roger D. Sullivan, 62, of Lenoir, NC died, following a brief illness, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center Valor Hospice, Asheville, NC. Born October 10, 1952 in Caldwell County, NC, he was a son of Carroll and Jewell Beane Sullivan of Morganton. Roger was a U.S. Navy veteran and while stationed in Washington, D.C., he served with President Richard Nixon’s Color Guard. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer, and he loved to ride horses. Roger enjoyed creating beautiful handcrafted gun holsters, and crafting bows and arrows.
In addition to his parents, surviving to cherish his memory are his soul mate, Patricia Kirby of the home; brothers, Barry Sullivan and wife, Deborah of Hickory, and Rick Sullivan of Charlotte; sister, Linda Harrison and husband, Rodney of Statesville; nieces, Ashlee Harrison and Michelle Brown; nephew, Chris Sullivan; a number of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins; and his faithful canine companions, Bud and Kelly.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at Noon, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Allen Curtis officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the church.
