Roger "Pea Ridge" Moore

Roger "Pea Ridge" Moore, 74, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2015. He was born on February 20, 1941 in Washington County, VA and was the son of the late Eugene Moore and Mary Brody Moore. He was a US Marine Veteran serving in Vietnam. Roger loved and lived every moment of his life full throttle! His home was the open road and wide open spaces, and his heart was even bigger and wider than that.
Forced to live by the clock, Roger made time to feed the occasional weary traveler or to help those abandoned by the wayside.
With every trip, every load, every trailer he delivered was given to model and raise the cargo (family) that was truly precious to him. He was a man of sacrifice. He knew every moment lost was invested in those he loved most. His motivation was their future. He gladly carried that burden with a smile on his face and a song in his heart.
Roger is survived by his wife, Racheal Hudson Moore of the home; daughter, Linda Moore Maki of Charlotte; step-daughters, Amber Faith and Holly Duckworth and husband, Jeffery all of Morganton; brothers, Eugene Moore and wife, Rosie of Winston-Salem, NC and Ronald Moore and wife, Carol of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Corey Maki, Samantha Maki both of Charlotte, Brandon Chapman, Ray Duckworth, Lilly Biddix, and Michael Biddix all of Morganton; great-grandchild, Jaylynn Payne of Charlotte; and nieces, Whitney Moore and Cammie Presler.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Scotty Moore.
A gathering of friends and covered dish will be held on May 24th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Lake James State Park in McDowell County. A celebration of life servce to follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burke United Christian Ministries, 305-B W. Union St., Morganton, NC 28655.
