Ronald Charles Denton

Ronald Charles Denton, Sr., 64, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, May 19, 2011. Born in Cleveland County, NC on November 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles Baxter Denton and Mary Frances Peeler Lloyd. Ronald was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church. He was a graduate of both Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ron had served as a Cubmaster at First Presbyterian Church Cub Scout Pack #200 and a Scout Master at St. Charles Catholic Church for Boy Scout Troop #182. As an avid auctioneer, he was also a collector of antiques. Ron touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed.Ronald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Ann York Denton of the home; children, Shandy Williams of Morganton, Ronald Charles "Chuck" Denton, Jr. and wife, Jessica, of Clearwater, FL, and Matthew Denton of the home; grandchildren, Morgan Barr, Courtney Barr, Christian Barr, David Denton, and Gracie Denton; and a sister, Denise Hullender and husband Joseph, of Kings Mountain, NC.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Odom officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Shandy, on Bristol Creek Ave., Morganton.
