Ronald Merle Thompson

Ronald Merle Thompson, 66, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018 at his home. Mr. Thompson was born on March 12, 1951 in Penobscot County, Maine to Evangeline St. Claire York Thompson and the late Ronald Earl Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family dearly. He spent thirty plus years preaching the word of the Lord. Ron enjoyed working with his plants and flowers, but especially loved helping others and was loyal to a fault to everyone he knew.
In addition to his mother, Ronald is survived by his wife, Faith Liller Thompson; children, Deanna Thompson Steele and boyfriend, James Burleson, and Jason Thompson and wife, Brooke; grandchildren, Zachary Steele, Chloe Dale, Laura Thompson, and Jadon Thompson; sisters, Betty Ann Larson and Francine Stanley and husband, Charlie; brothers, Donnie Thompson and wife, Jenny and Mike Thompson and wife, Mary; many nephews and nieces; and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Milam officiating.
