Ronald “Ron” Larry Rockey

Ronald “Ron” Larry Rockey, 75, of Morganton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.  Born in Wauseon, OH on December 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn Collins Rockey.  Ron graduated from the Marion Military Institute in 1964 and attended the University of Alabama.  He served in the US Army from 1965 until 1971.  He was self-employed in Winter Haven, FL for many years until his retirement.  Ron loved following sports, getting out in his red Corvette, and collecting neon signs and memorabilia.

Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Leslie Hogan Rockey; step-son, Jamey Winrow (Jessica); and granddaughter, Lexi Winrow.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Rockey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Historic Burke County Courthouse, 102 E. Union Street, Morganton, NC 28655 on Monday, September 9th from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
