Rony “Roho” Russ, 76, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was born on October 22, 1945 in Robeson County to the late Fletcher Harding Russ and Lucy McKee Russ. Rony was a member of Conley Road Pentecostal Holiness Church. He drove a cab for City Cab and also worked as a security guard. He loved working on cars and going fishing. Rony had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh especially when he mimicked Donald Duck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rudy Russ.
He is survived by his children, Dean Russ (Sonya) and Donnie Russ (Terri); grandchildren, Mercedes Pritchard, Caleb Russ, and Maddie Russ; great-grandchildren, Adaleigh and Chandler Wilder, Treasure and NaLaiya Young; and sister, Judy R. Jay.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, September 30, 2022 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The service will begin at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Conley Road Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
