Rosa Lane Guffey

Rosa Lane Guffey, 82, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, March 16, 2014. Born August 9, 1931 in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Hugh Lane and Maybelle Smith Lane. Rosa was a member of Nowlings Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Shadowline, and also worked at Premier Hosiery. She was a member of VFW Post #5362, and an accomplished seamstress and cook.She is survived by a daughter, Teresa Guffey of Morganton; a brother, Henry Lane of Taylorsville, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, John Hicks Guffey; sisters, Bessie Lane, Betty Bradshaw, and Florence Mills; and brothers, Roy, Robert, John, Jim, Grover, Carl, and Charles "Will" Lane.The funeral will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Morganton First Church of God with the Rev. Jon McDivitt officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3:00pm prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home, P.O.
