Rosa Lee "Jordan" Cook, 86, of Mill Street, Glen Alpine, NC died Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born December 11, 1919 in Burke County, NC, a d was a daughter of the late Will Jordan and Elizabeth Carswell Jordan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Cook; and brothers, Walt, Mill, John, Brad, and Luther Jordan. Rosa was a member of the Praise Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school. She was a retired employee of Drexel Knitting Mill. Rosa was a loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha J. Franklin of Glen Alpine; a sister, Eva Frances Bollinger of Morganton; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and a number of extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Gurley officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 116 Mill St. in Glen Alpine. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
