The beautiful life of Rosemary Agnes Loughrey Hoff came to a close on the morning of Tuesday, May 15, 2012. Rosemary was born on March 6, 1926 in Holyoke, Massachusetts and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Walsh Loughrey. At the age of 9, she experienced a life changing day when her beloved mother passed away giving birth to her little sister, Antrese. As the years went by, the mother-sister relationship that developed between Rosemary and Antrese was amazingly intimate, and it would become the golden thread that magically united the lives of siblings, spouses, children, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.During the spring of 1949, Rosemary fell in love with Doug, "the man who adored her." They would share many wonderful adventures together for the next 61 years. Mom’s life created an incredible map of how to love, how to care, how to embrace, and so much more. Though we will all miss her dearly, we thoughtfully send her off to the warm embrace of our heavenly father and so many family and friends that she loved so much.Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Gregory and Marty Hoff, Laura and Jack Dunsmore, and Donna and Tom Hall all of Morganton, and Tim and Kathy Hoff of Charlotte; grandchildren, Chelsea Weidner, Isaac Hoff, Abram Hoff, Jennifer Garrison and her husband, Zane, Jason Dunsmore, Joshua Hall, Seth Hall, Sarah Hall, Jesse Hall, Michael Hoff, and Emily Hoff; 6 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert Loughrey of Holyoke, MA; and a brother-in-law, Jim Allegro and his wife, Lesley of St. Augustine, FL.In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Douglas Hoff; brothers, Joseph Loughrey, Jr. and his wife, Helen, Jimmy Loughrey and his wife, Madeline; sister, Antrese L. Allegro; and sister-in-law, Irene Loughrey. The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Fr. Kenneth Whittington and Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Sossoman Funeral Home & Crematory Center. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 29690.The family of Rosemary Agnes and Doug Hoff so wish to express their heartfelt appreciation to the loving team of earthly angels who helped care for "Mom" and "Dad" in their weakened final years. Rhonda Peterson, Sandi Clark, Barbara Hodges, Kim Glover, and grandson, Josh Hall, were all so loving, throughtful and caring during Mom and Dad’s last years at home. They both appreciated and loved you. And for the compassionate, loving, and capable staff at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, "Thank you so much. It was so reassuring to watch Mom and Dad be cared for with such tenderness. All of you will forever hold a special place in our hearts."With love, the children of Rosemary and Doug Hoff: Tim Hoff, Donna Hall, Laura Dunsmore, and Greg Hoff.
