Roy Lonon, 86 of Morganton, NC passed away, Friday, August 30, 2024. Born in McDowell Co. on October 28, 1937. He was the son of the late Edgar and Bertha Lonon. Roy was a graduate of Glenwood High School in 1955. After high school, he served in the US Army. Roy worked at Great Lakes Carbon, retired from Sara Lee Textiles, drove for Sun Tours, and retired from Greenway Transportation.

Roy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia “Ann” Lonon; children, Michael Lonon, Rhonda Smith (Charles Ellis), Carol Crump (Steve); grandchildren, Leah Rhodes (Jon), Matthew Lonon (Ashlee), Gabriel Lonon (Brittney), Angel Walsh (Tyler), Dustin Ellis (Tammy Sturgill), David Lonon (Samantha); great grandchildren, Shelbie, Callen, Olivia, Mathias, Memphis, Ireland, Brailee, Paislee, Maverick.

In addition to his parents, Edgar and Bertha, Roy was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5pm until 6pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Roy & I grew up in the same community & went to the same schools and were graduates of Glenwood High School. Always enjoyed being with and around Roy during those years. We had some good memories together.
