Roy William Barrier

Roy William Barrier, 76, of Jonas Ridge, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on January 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Silas Christopher Barrier and Elsie Clark Barrier. Roy was retired from Drexel Heritage after 31 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Arvil Barrier, Isaac Barrier; sisters, Alice Whetzer, Brenda Wheeler; son, Michael Barrier and first wife, Sandra Barrier.
Roy is survived by his children, Shirley Garland and husband, Bob, Daphne Taylor, Dennis Barrier, all of Jonas Ridge, Tammy Smith and husband, Terry, Roy James Barrier and wife, Sharon, and Ruannia Powell, all of Morganton; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Dr. Danny Emory officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to assist with funeral expenses c/o Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center, P.O. Box 2608, Morganton, NC 28680.
