Roy Yates Barlow

Roy Yates Barlow, 77, of Morganton died Saturday, October 29, 2011. Yates was born May 23, 1934 in Burke County to the late Roy Richard Barlow and Margaret Estelle Hern Barlow. He was a US Army veteran, Past Master of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge # 217 and attended Catawba Valley Baptist Church. After retiring from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Yates enjoyed his mission work and travels to Costa Rica.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Goodman Barlow.Yates is survived by his son, Roy ?Rusty? Barlow and his wife, Stirling, of Arden; a daughter, Carole Rich and her husband, Paul, of Lenoir; grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha and Jacob Rich of Lenoir, and Madison, and William Barlow of Arden; and brothers, Charles and Richard Barlow, both of Morganton.A graveside service will be held 2:45 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2011 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Mike Odom and Rev. Charles Barlow officiating. Masonic Rites will be provided by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge # 217. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
