Ruby Cooper McNeely

Ruby Cooper McNeely, 83, of Morganton died Saturday March 1, 2014. Mrs. McNeely was born in Burke County on January 28, 1931 and was a daughter of the late William Porter Cooper and Hannie Naomi Clark Cooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee McNeely; a son, Bobby McNeely; and by sisters, Dortha Cooper and Velsie Lowdermilk. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.Ruby is survived by her children, Donald McNeely of Marion, Regina Hamby and husband, Ronald of Lenoir, and Jeannine Tomlinson of husband, Randy of Morganton; brothers, Frank Cooper and Willie Cooper both of Morganton; sisters, Bertha Smith of Valdese, Betty Smith of Lenoir, and Leola Hildebran of Morganton; 10 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Watkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Jeannine and Randy Tomlinson on Bethel Road.
