Ruby Lee Ramsey Fortenberry

Ruby Lee Ramsey Fortenberry, 79, of Burkemont Avenue, Morganton, NC died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Carolina Rehab Center in Connelly Springs, NC following a period of declining health. She was born December 14, 1928 in Burke County, and was a daughter of the late Max Ramsey and Maggie Donie Gales Ramsey. Ruby was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, and a retired employee of Broughton Hospital with over 20 years of service.She is survived by sons, Ricky Fortenberry and wife, Robin of Morganton, and Ronnie Fortenberry and wife, Lisa of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Sheila Clark and husband, Rocky, of Valdese, NC; a sister, Edith Parker of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Amy Ramos, Amanda Clark, and Cody Fortenberry; and great grandchildren, Haley Ramos, Israel R. Amos, and Corey Carswell.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Fortenberry; a son, Michael Fortenberry; and brothers, Howard Ramsey and Stewart Ramsey.Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lawndale, NC. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
