Ruby McFalls Mull Setzer

Ruby McFalls Mull Setzer, 88, of Valdese, NC went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was born May 26, 1928 in Burke County, NC to the late William Leander (Lee) McFalls and Henrietta Whisnant McFalls. Ruby was an active member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a past member of Zion Baptist Church and El Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Setzer had worked as a supervisor at Premier Hosiery. She had also worked as a nurse at Valdese Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, Handicare, and Catawba Valley Medical Services. She ultimately retired from the North Carolina School for the Deaf where she was a dormitory teacher.

Ruby is survived by one daughter, Peggy Mull Sanders of Morganton; 2 grandsons, Randy Sanders and wife, Tanya, and Daniel Sanders, all of Morganton; 2 great-granddaughters, Kylie and Raegan Sanders; and 16 nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil “Bob” Mull; her second husband, William Carol Setzer; 2 brothers, Larry and William McFalls; and 6 sisters, Pansy Whisnant, Annie Greene, Edna Brittain, Lola Davis, Ethel Hallyburton, and Mary Weatherman.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 11 am, Friday, December 30, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. David Bean officiating. Burial will follow at El Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
