Ruby "Nana" McDaniel Lane

Ruby "Nana" McDaniel Lane, 83, of Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born August 25, 1924 in Burke County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Charlie McDaniel and Amanda Starnes McDaniel. Ruby was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church on Bethel Rd. in Morganton. She was a former employee of Wamsutta-Doblin, Drexel Furniture, and Shadowline with whom she had twenty-two years of service.Ruby is survived by a daughter, Ellen Carver of Morganton; and grandchildren, Amanda Benfield and husband, Lenior, Jr. and Kim Orders, all of Morganton.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Lane; and a son, Robert G. Lane.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. F. Roderick Randolph and Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 pm at the church. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
