Ruby Searcy Bridges

Ruby Searcy Bridges, 72 of North St., Morganton, NC died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, NC following a lengthy illness. Born on June 19, 1935 in Greenville County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Edgar D. Searcy and Addie Mae Rainwater Searcy. Ruby was a retired employee of Southern Devices and was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Walter E. "Bud" Searcy and Walden Searcy; and sisters, Edna Mae Searcy, Doris Moore, and Murlle Pruitt.Surviving are her husband, Bobby Lee Bridges of the home; brothers, Wayne Searcy and his wife, Bonnie of Farrell, PA and Billy Searcy and his wife, Kathy of Columbus, NC; a sister-in-law, Frances Morrison of Statesville, NC; a brother-in-law, Dean Bridges and his wife, Brenda of Polkville, NC; and a number of nephews and nieces.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends Richard Ellington and Eugene Ponds officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
