Ruth Allen Whalen

Ruth Allen Whalen, 90, of Inglewood Dr., Morganton, NC died Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Grace Hospital following a brief illness. Born November 2, 1919 in Franklin, MA, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lillian Allen. Mrs. Whalen was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Joseph Whalen, Jr. and a grandson, Adam Whalen.Surviving are her sons, Fredrick J. Whalen, III and his wife, Tori and Kenneth Whalen and his wife, Diane all of Morganton; a daughter, Brenda Whalen of Morganton; a brother, Henry Allen, Jr. of Terre Haute, IN; a sister, Stella Joanis of Franklin, MA; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.The funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 17, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Kenneth Whittington officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Medway, MA. The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Monday in Murray Hall of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
