Ruth Graybeal Abee

Ruth Graybeal Abee, 86, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Born in Carter County, TN on July 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Spencer Graybeal and Ester Benfield Graybeal. Ruth was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church. She worked as a nursing assistant at Grace Hospital for thirty-five years until 1990. For many years she also worked in Dr. John Spiggle’s office.

Mrs. Abee is survived by her son, Jack C. “Buddy” Abee, Jr. of Greeneville, TN; grandchildren, April Harrington Hullette and her husband, Randy, of Hickory, NC and Frank Wesly Braswell, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie, of Morganton; great-grandson, Harlan and Wyatt Hullette; a brother, Jack Graybeal and his wife, Carole, of Spring Hill, FL; and a very special friend, Wanda Mace.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Abee, Sr.; daughter, Martha Ann Abee Harrington and Mary Beth Abee Braswell; and siblings, Fleeta Elliot, James K. Graybeal, Frank Graybeal, Bill Graybeal, John Graybeal, Nora Mauro, and Mabel Holland.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Mr. Buddy Armour officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
