Ruth Houk Price

Ruth Houk Price, 93, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012. Born in Burke County, NC on November 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Robert Worth Houk and Barbara Lowman Houk. Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Glen Alpine High School and was a former employee of Hanes. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shirley Price Roark and husband, Kenneth, of Morganton; a son-in-law, Bill Hammond of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughters, Lisa McDonald and husband, Roy, of Kernersville, NC, Donna Snyder and husband, Tim, of Winston-Salem, and Sharron Setzer of Indianland, SC; a grandson, Michael Keith Roark and wife, Lydia, of Glen Alpine; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ned A. Price; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Hammond; brothers, Fred, Fate, Earl, and Burlie Houk; and a sister, Mae Houk Lowdermilk.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery on Dysartsville Road with Rev. Sid Houk officiating. At other times the family will be at the residence, 5124 Mt. Olive Ch. Rd., Morganton.Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church, 5388 Mt. Olive Ch.
