Ruth J. Puett

Ruth J. Puett, 90 of John’s River Loop, Morganton died Friday, August 15, 2008, at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born in Burke County on May 14, 1918 and was a daughter of the late Arthur Edward Jones and Mary Edmondson Jones. Mrs. Puett was a retired employee of Broughton Hospital with 20 years of service as a health care technician. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Morganton. Ruth enjoyed to travel and had traveled around the world. She loved to cross stitch.Left to cherish her memory as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother are her son Lloyd Weeks Puett, Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Marion; her daughters, Carolyn Tilley and her husband, Warren, of Lenoir, and Mary Ruth Cooper of Morganton; her brother, Harold Jones, of California; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Weeks Puett, Sr. and by sisters, Billie Zimmerman and Blanche Maness.The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Thomas Bland officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
