Ruth Jordan Yancey

Ruth Jordan Yancey, 74, of Glen Alpine died Wednesday, August 7, 2013. She was born in Burke County on April 25, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Scott Jordan. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Cline Yancey, and by her brother, Albert Jordan. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed her flower garden and reading. She was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan and was also an avid Duke Basketball fan. Ruth was of the Baptist faith.Surviving are her sons, Tracy Yancey and his wife Maureen "Mo" Schwind, and Sandy Yancey; special niece and nephews, Terry Jordan, Daniel Jordan, and Dustin Jordan all of Morganton; sisters, Frances Stroupe and her husband, James, of Morganton, Nancy Jordan and Ruby Ramsey both of Glen Alpine; and brothers, Ralph Jordan, Paul Jordan, and Larry Jordan and his wife, Robyn all of Morganton.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Laura Elliott officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W. Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
