Ruth Poteet

Ruth Poteet, 95, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.  Born in Polk County, NC on January 13, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Foster Clinton Head and Bessie Lee Walker Head.  Ruth was a member of Summit Community Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church).  Ruth was known for her cooking, especially her pimento cheese.  She enjoyed making weekly trips to rest homes to visit with the residents.

Mrs. Poteet is survived by a daughter, Carolyn McDaniel and husband, Lewis; a son, Ronald Poteet and wife, Patricia; grandchildren, Sherri Denton, Matthew Poteet and wife, Meg, Ruth Ann Connor and husband, Eric; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ray Poteet; a sister, Katherine Wakefield; and 2 brothers, William Head and Waldon Head.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Sunday, July 23, 20127 at Summit Community Church.  The funeral will be held at 3pm in the church with the Rev. Larry Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
