Ruth Rogers Nichols, 90, of Robbinsville, NC died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Ruth was born on September 17, 1926 in Cherokee County, NC to the late Wilburn Rogers and Julia Rogers Rogers. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by a sister, Christine Hollaway of Powder Springs, GA; and sons, Terrell Nichols of Robbinsville, NC, Tony Nichols of Morganton, NC, and Buddy Nichols and wife, Jeanette of Robbinsville, NC. She is also survived by thirty-two nieces and nephews; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Windell Nichols; daughter, Elizabeth Faye Nichols; brother, Wayne Rogers; sisters, Leatha Plymale, Lorraine Hollaway, and Martha Rogers Lambert; granddaughter, Toni Nichols Shull; grandsons, Windell Avery Nichols and Luther Wayne Nichols; and step-granddaughter, Tonya Chapman Hall and step-grandson, Dennis Chapman.
The family will receive friends, Friday, September 9, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Trinity Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 12:00 noon with Preacher Scott Moneyham and Pastor Tim Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 3333 Trinity Church Road, Valdese, North Carolina 28690.
