Ruth Wilson Patton

Ruth Wilson Patton, 85, of Morganton died Sunday, March 6, 2016. Born in Burke County, NC on February 13, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James Otis Wilson and Annie Victoria Causby Wilson. Ruth was a founding member of Lake James Fire Department. She made numerous quilts and cooked many meals for the fire department and friends. Ruth made great pound cakes. She was a very active member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by children, Robert Patton and wife, Diane Whisenant of Connelly Springs, Jerold Patton and wife Kim McCoy and Lena Patton Patrum and husband, Buddy all of Morganton; grandchildren, Scottie Patton, J.R. Patton, Josh Patton, Lacosta Hicks, Crystal Price and Travis Patton; four great-grandchildren; brother, James Preston Wilson and wife, Vernice of Morganton; sister-in-law, Grace Wilson; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Martha Corpening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Robert Patton; brother, Charles Luther Wilson and sister, Pearl Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.
