Sadie Cook Mace

Sadie Cook Mace, 74, of Morganton, NC died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Burke County, NC on March 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Cook and Vassie Hilderbran Cook. Sadie was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Dixie Container. She had a keen sense of humor, loved to cook, and was kind and compassionate; always willing to help other people.A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sadie is survived by her children, Rickie Clark of Morganton, Rita Franklin of Morganton, Bryan Clark of Morganton, and Sandra ?Lyna? Golightly of Avery County, NC; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, a brother, Sidney Cook of Morganton; and sisters, Bertha Stillwell of Morganton, Rhoda Poe of Valdese, NC, and Joyce Hullett of Connelly Springs, NC.In addition to her parents, Sadie was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Clark; her second husband, Bobby Mace; a son, Jeffrey Clark; a brother, Larry Cook; and two sisters, Versie Hullett and Flavia Brown.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. David J. Duncan and Chaplain Ted Swann officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
