Sam Rudicill, 75, of NC 126, Morganton, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at his residence. Sam was born in Burke County, January 23, 1934 to the late Collins and Jessie Robinson Rudicill Kincaid. He was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Rick Rudicill; a granddaughter, Hunter Watson; two sisters, Mary Suttles and Hazel Setzer; and an infant brother, Jacob Rudicill.Sam is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Clay Rudicill; two sons, Todd Rudicill and Tim Rudicill; a daughter, Gina Rudicill all of Morganton; two sisters, Floy Powell of Morganton and Dorothy Rector of Lenoir; five grandchildren, Clay Rudicill, Ryan Rudicill, Jenny Rudicill, Hillary Rudicill, Trevor Rudicill; two great grandchildren, Lauren Rudicill and Katie Rudicill; a special daughter-in-law, Cathy Rudicill of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Denton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rite provided by the American Legion Post 234. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home.
